Biography

Nermin Al Aoua has been studying Middle Eastern Studies (M.A.) at Friedrich-Alexander University Erlangen-Nuremberg since October 2025. Prior to that, she studied Political Science and Arabic/Islamic Studies (B.A.) at Georg August University Göttingen. During her studies, she combined political and cultural perspectives with linguistic and regional expertise on the Arab world. Through a DAAD-funded semester abroad at the German-Jordanian University in Amman and a winter school at the University of Nizwa in Oman, she deepened her knowledge of Modern Standard Arabic and gained insights into the social and cultural dynamics of the region. Since November 2025, she has been working as a student assistant at the Chair of Oriental Philology and Islamic Studies at FAU and at the Bavarian Research Institute for Interreligious Discourse (BaFID), where her responsibilities include social media management.
Her academic interests lie in the field of politics and society in the Middle East, particularly in issues of migration, international relations, and intercultural dialogue.
