Biography
Aya Maalikji Akkawi is a researcher in Arabic and Islamic Philosophy, with a passion for exploring the modern Arab mind and the problematics of religion, ideology, heritage, and modernity in the formation of identity. She graduated from Saint Joseph University – Beirut (USJ) with a bachelor’s degree in “Philosophy and Arabic Civilization”, and completed her master’s degree in “Arabic and Islamic Philosophy”, with a thesis entitled: “The Concept of Identity in the Modern Arab World: Religion, Ideology, and Their Impact on Identity”, earning her degree in 2024.
Currently, Aya Maalikji Akkawi is pursuing her doctoral studies at Saint Joseph University – Beirut (USJ), focusing her research on: “The Modern Arab Mind between hermeneutical Critical ‘No’ and Fundamentalist Negating Destructive ‘No’ in the context of The Philosophy of Negation”. She is also participating in the Erasmus student exchange program at Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg (FAU) in Germany, enriching her research experience within an international academic environment.
