The concept of authority in Islam was presented by Prof. Dr. Aiyub Palmer (University of Kentucky). Kübra Özcan moderated.
Introduced by Maria Elisabeth Höwer, Prof. Dr. Vasilios N. Makrides (University of Erfurt) presented the concept of modernity in Christianity.
The presentations were followed by discussions with the participants.
Prof. Dr. Lawrence Kaplan (McGill) gave the first lecture on the concept of authority in Judaism. Jarmila Geisler, FAU, moderated.
Sandra Hauser (left), BaFID, also welcomed the participants.
In the second lecture, Dr. Jan Wim Buisman (right, Leiden University) examined the concept of authority from a Christian perspective. The lecture was moderated by Prof. Dr. Christian Lange (left, University of Würzburg).
Prof. Dr. Allan Arkush (Binghamton University) spoke about the concept of modernity in Judaism. Dr. Doru Constantin Doroftei (left, FAU) moderated the discussion.
Prof. Dr. Armina Omerika (University of Frankfurt/Main) presented the concept of modernity in Islam, with Dr. Ghassan El Masri (FAU) acting as moderator.

From an Islamic perspective, Prof. Dr. Nader El-Bizri (in the background, University of Sharjah/UAE) spoke about the concept of rationality. The moderator was Dr. Pascal Held, FAU.
In place of Dr. Martin Breul (University of Erfurt), who was ill, Maria Elisabeth Höwer, M.Sc., BaFID, gave the lecture on the concept of rationality in Christianity.
Moderated by Dr. Doru Constantin Doroftei (pictured), Prof. Daniel Frank (Purdue University) gave a lecture via Zoom on the concept of rationality in Judaism.

The final presentation of the first day of the conference was given by Dr. Ahab Bdaiwi (Leiden University) on the concept of religion in Islam via Zoom.
After the individual presentations, conference participants took the opportunity to ask questions.
