Volume 'Concept of Human Rights'
The second volume of the series Key Concepts in Interreligious Discourses examines the roots of the concept “human rights” in Judaism, Christianity, and Islam. It demonstrates the extent to which the universal validity of “human rights” contradicts religious traditions in several crucial respects. The volume illustrates that new perspectives are introduced into the general discussion on human rights when they are considered in relation to religious traditions. The interreligious perspective, in particular, highlights the need for a new kind of debate on human rights and their history.
Edited by Catharina Rachik and Georges Tamer.
