Advanced Theology Course - Study Week
From 09. March, 18:00, to 14. March 2026, 13:00
Crises and experiences of powerlessness are particular challenges—whether they be personal upheavals, sudden events such as accidents, social upheavals, or ongoing crises such as climate change or war. In light of this, theology must face the theological challenge of how such crisis events and the unanswerable questions they raise can be reconciled with faith in God.
The study course on „Krise, Ohnmacht und der Glaube an Gott“ gets to the bottom of this. This is done from the perspective of biblical, historical, and systematic theology:
Experiences of crisis and powerlessness are as old as humanity itself. Biblical texts reflect human suffering but also the theological doubts and questions associated with it. Crises, challenges, and reorganisations have shaped church history to this day and have led to the development of theological models in systematic theology that discuss experiences of crisis in relation to belief in God and the image of God.
Overall, theological challenges and interpretative options are also considered in terms of their relevance to today's experiences of crisis and powerlessness.
