In his latest article, \u201cWhat are Robots? In an &#8220;Islamic Approach from a Metaphysical Understanding of the Human Being\u201d, Ramy Abdin explores one of the most fascinating frontier issues of our time: religious robotics.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In a world where artificial intelligence and highly sophisticated robots are increasingly becoming part of our everyday lives, the question of their very nature has taken on a new sense of urgency. Abdin approaches this topic not from a purely technical perspective, but with a deep understanding of the Islamic view of humanity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Humanity as a spiritual battleground<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Central to Abdin\u2019s argument is the Islamic view of human beings as primarily spiritual beings. A defining feature of human existence is the constant struggle with one\u2019s own ego (nafs). This moral and spiritual tension shapes our development and our actions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This raises profound philosophical questions for robotics:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Can machines that we attribute \u2018intelligence\u2019 to ever experience any form of hardship or suffering?<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Is what we refer to as \u2018learning\u2019 in the context of AI comparable to the spiritual struggle of human beings?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The pitfall of anthropocentrism<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A key point in the article is the reflection on the concept of \u2018life\u2019.
