The key concepts of love and fear, hope and grief, joy and anger occupy a prominent place in their sacred texts, and it can be argued that religions function practically through the medium of emotion. This raises the question of what exactly is meant by the term \u2018emotions\u2019. The conceptualisation of emotions within the context of these respective religions has undergone significant shifts over the course of their histories. Within mystical traditions in particular, the discussion of emotions has intensified, as these were closely linked to the divine experience and closeness to the divine.
